From ‘Shamshera’ to ‘Fullmetal Alchemist’: Check out what to watch on OTT this weekend

New Delhi: It is vacation time with a lot of festivals around in the month. Spending time binge-watching movies and web series is definitely a good idea to spend your weekend. With a lot of content releasing on OTT this Friday, August 20 and 21 are for you to sit on your couch and watch some new releases.

From crime thrillers to sweet rom-com, this weekend offers it all. Here is a list of the top 5 movies and web series to watch this weekend:

1. Shamshera

After earning around Rs 42.5 crore at the box office, the film is here to entertain the viewers on the small screen. The story of the film revolves around a warrior tribe who is imprisoned, enslaved & tortured by a ruthless authoritarian Shudh Singh. Shamshera is a legend for his tribe who is determined to fight for his tribe’s freedom & dignity.

The film stars Ranbir Kapoor in the titular role and Vaani Kapoor as Sona in the lead along with Sanjay Dutt, Ronit Roy and Saurabh Shukla. ‘Shamshera’ is streaming on Amazon Prime Video from August 19 onwards.

2. TamilRockerz

The show takes its audience into the dark world of digital piracy and explores the entertainment industry’s battles against those responsible for their losses worth crores. ‘Tamilrockerz’ revolves around the journey of Rudhra, a cop who sets on a fight against time, uncontrollable fans, and an anonymous network of cyber pirates to secure a massively budgeted and highly anticipated movie from the notorious piracy group.

The web series stars Tamil actor Arun Vijay, who is known for films like ‘Thadam’ and ‘Saaho’. The show is streaming on Sony Liv from August 19 onwards.

3. Heaven

The Malayalam film follows a Circle Inspector, Peter Kurishinkal who prefers brain over brawn to solve his cases. His world is brought upside down when he is assigned a sensational case of homicide.

Directed by Unni Govindraj, the film stars Suraj Venjaramoodu, Alencier Ley Lopez, Sudheesh, Abhija Sivakala and others. The movie is streaming on Disney+Hotstar.

4. Sherdil: The Pilibhit Saga

The film is inspired by the true events from Pilibhit Tiger Reserve where people used to leave their elderly family members for tigers to prey on, and then claim compensation from the administration. Directed by Srijit Mukherji, the film stars critically acclaimed actors Pankaj Tripathi, Sayani Gupta, Neeraj Kabi and Akshay Kapoor.

The film is streaming on Netflix from August 20 onwards.

5. Fullmetal Alchemist: The Revenge of Scar

The Japanese franchise with Brotherhood being one of the most popular anime, Fullmetal Alchemist is back with a feature film. The plot reads, “When a mysterious figure starts to target State Alchemists for their sins against God, Alchemist Edward Elric and his brother Alphonse are at their most vulnerable, meanwhile the homunculi begin to unveil themselves once again.”

The film is directed by Fumihiko Sori and features Ryosuke Yamada, Tsubasa Honda, and Atom Mizuishi along with others. The movie is streaming on Netflix from August 20 onwards.
