From The Kashmir Files to Stranger Things: Here are some of top May releases on Voot, Prime, Netflix; Check inside

New Delhi: OTT platforms are a new venture for the entertainment world which delivers some out-of-the-box content. People have shifted their focus from TV screens to OTT platforms and its popularity is increasing day by day. OTT provides various content and people can choose them as per their wish and can watch them at their preferred time.

With spells of heatwaves outside, it is often tough for us to land ourselves in the theatres to watch movies. Thus OTT will provide you with a bunch of movies and series in May, to make your summer worth it. 

Let’s take a look at some of the movies, series releasing this month:

1. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 1 – Voot

Fans have been waiting for the much-anticipated series Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 1 which is scheduled to release on May 5. The series is the prequel to Star Trek: The Original Series. The show will follow the crew of the USS Enterprise under Captain Christopher Pike.

2. Thar – Netflix

Written and directed by Raj Singh Chaudhary, the movie casts Anil Kapoor, Harshvarrdhan Kapoor, and Fatima Sana Sheikh in the lead roles. The movie narrates the story of an antique dealer Siddharth who resides in Pushkar, Rajasthan, and end-up in the investigation after some violence starts in the state. The movie will be streaming from May 6.

3. Jhund – Zee 5

Written and directed by Nagraj Popatrao Manjule, the film is an inspirational real-life story of the Nagpur-based Vijay Barse who founded Slum Soccer, an NGO doing stellar work with slum kids. The movie stars legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan along with Ankush Gedam, Babu Kshatriya amongst others in pivotal roles. The movie will be released on May 6.

4. The Kashmir Files – Zee 5

The movie was a blockbuster and gathered several appraisals from the audience. Starring Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, and Pallavi Joshi among others, the movie is based on the real incident of the 1990s exodus of Kashmiri Pandits by Pakistani terrorists. The movie will premiere on May 13.

5. Modern Love Mumbai – Amazon Prime

The series is an adaptation of ‘Modern Love’ which will be streaming from May 13. The series narrates six love stories that know no caste, religion, age, or gender among others. The six directors are – Vishal Bharadwaj, Hansal Mehta, Shonali Bose, Dhruv Sehgal, Alankrita Shrivastava, and Nupur Asthana.

6. Stranger Things Season 4 – Netflix

The much-anticipated series is all set to hit the OTT on May 27. The story about Demogorgon and the fight of Eleven and her friends to unravel yet another mystery is all here. The first part of the fourth season will release in May whereas the second part will be released in July.
