New Delhi: There are a lot of movies released in theatres every year but not all performed well. Despite having a good plot, movies that are not promoted enough due to low budget, missing big stars, or featuring newcomers receive very less collections. Since the OTT platforms came to the market, they have become a boon for such movies.

Below here, we have curated a list of movies that did a good business on OTT platforms such as Zee5 Hotstar, and Amazon Prime, outshining their performance in the cinema halls.

1. The Tashkent Files

‘The Tashkent’ Files tells the story of the mysterious death of the former Prime Minister of India, Lal Bahadur Shastri. The producer had a budget of Rs 4 crores for the movie, it earned around Rs 20 crores at the box office. However, it was loved by many after it was released on OTT platform Zee5.

2. Tumbbad

Tumbbad is a horror film and doesn’t have any big stars. It did not get enough business at the box office despite having a good story and a stellar performance by the actor. It is available on Amazon Prime Videos with an IMDb rating of 8.2%.

3. Chhichhore

‘Chhichhore’ is the film of the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. It became the last film of the actor as he died before its release. However, it did not receive many viewers at the box office. But, it is now considered to be one of the best movies available on Hotstar.

4. Thappad

Taapsee Pannu starter ‘Thappad’ has an IMDb rating of 7.2 after two years of its release in February 2020. The movie has a very strong social message but it didn’t work at the box office. However, it received a lot of love from the audience on Amazon Prime Video.

5. Mukkabaaz

‘Mukkabaaz’ is another film on the list that could not perform well at the box office, earning Rs 10.51 crores. The sports-drama film has a rating of 8 out of 10 on IMDb. It premiered in the special presentations section at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival. is available on Zee 5.
