New Delhi: On August 11, there will be a box office explosion. The upcoming film Gadar 2, starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, will compete with Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2, which is also set for release on the same day. The anticipation for both movies is over the roof. Gadar 2 has nostalgic value, so fans are looking forward to it, but OMG 2 deals with sensitive topics. Both movies have started taking pre-orders, so the race is officially on.

Box office statistics for the Sunny Deol starrer are rising, but those for Akshay Kumar’s film are clearly in decline.
Before even the first advance bookings were taken, the OMG 2 had a rough go of it. Due to the film’s controversial material, it was held up by the Censor Board for weeks. Finally, it received an “A” rating from the government, which acts as a hurdle. However, with very less pre-release excitement, things seem to be turning worrying for Akshay Kumar and his crew.

Gadar 2 has reportedly sold 154179 seats and made 3.96 crores, as reported by Sacnilk. In comparison to yesterday’s statistics (3.30 crores), this is a huge increase. Industry experts are now predicting an advance booking total in the double digits for the film starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel.
On the other side, the Indian box office for OMG 2 only saw 20321 tickets sold and a total of 62.51 lakhs, as reported by Sacnilk. There are just four days left till Day 1, and advance booking has to kick up dramatically to be at the Gadar 2 level.
