Plot
Grand Blue Dreaming centers around Iori Kitahara, a cheerful and somewhat naive young man who moves to a picturesque coastal town in Izu to start his college life. Eager to enjoy the college experience and live near the ocean, Iori moves into his uncle’s diving shop called Grand Blue, expecting a peaceful and studious lifestyle.
However, Iori quickly discovers that the diving club associated with the shop is anything but ordinary. Instead of serious training and exploration, the club members are an eccentric, wild group of college students who love to party hard, drink excessively, and engage in outrageous antics. Their obsession with sake and pranks often turns even the simplest situations into chaotic, comedic events.
Despite Iori’s initial resistance, he gets drawn into this rowdy group, making fast friends with characters like Kohei Imamura, a party-loving fellow student, and the mysteriously cute but mischievous Chisa Kotegawa, who also works at the dive shop. The story follows Iori as he balances his academic goals, learns to dive properly, and navigates the hilarious and often absurd culture of the diving club.
Beneath the humor and wild parties, the anime beautifully showcases the joy of friendship, the challenges of growing up, and the passion for the ocean and diving.
