New Delhi: The sixth installment of  Rockstar Games’  popular action-adventure game Grand Theft Auto (GTA 6) is undoubtedly one of the most eagerly awaited games of all time.

Ever since the company launched its 5th edition back in 2013 (GTA 5), fans have been waiting for them to either announce the launch of GTA 6 or at least provide a clue about the game but the developers have remained silent on the same for over a period of 10 years.

However, with game analysts estimating that GTA 6’s arrival is not far away, fans are getting hyped up about the game once again and leakers are leaving no stone unturned in trying to provide more and more information hidden about the same either.

Fraud account lures GTA 6 fans

Meanwhile, an internet user used GTA 6’s increasing buzz as a perfect opportunity to lure attract audience and did something that left the whole gaming community irked and frustrated.

The Twitch user, in an attempt to trick the viewers, renamed his Twitch channel to “NewsRockstar” and even put the company’s official logo as its featured image. He then gave his stream a clickbait title that read, “GTA6 OUT NOW! [BETA] – Early Access Beta Test” with the hope that the game’s fans will fall into his trap and will end up vising his stream in search of the eagerly awaited GTA 6.

Surprisingly, the fraudster’s trap managed to get him massive traffic on his channel as over 22 thousand clicked on the link of his stream expecting to get early access to the beta version of the open-world game.

The user’s malicious trick not only made his stream popular in a matter of hours but also got him illegitimate access to the details of thousands of users who clicked on his link and entered the login details and password of their Steam accounts.

Gets Banned

The deceiving stream ran for around 5 hours and made fool of the viewers before finally being pulled down and banned by the platform. Informing about the same, streamerbans’ took to their Twitter (Now X) handle and wrote “Twitch Partner “NewsRockstar” has been banned”

Notably, the phishers account also had a verification badge (blue tick), and the same made it appear genuine and real to all the viewers who fell victim to the bait.
