Happy Birthday Sai Pallavi: The actress who ditched short dress trend in view of objectification

Pallavi shared the story of why she wouldn’t wear short dresses in her films and how uncomfortable it made her feel that one time she did so in a dance video.

New Delhi: The South Indian actress Sai Pallavi is celebrating her 31st birthday today, on May 9. She is known for her acting skills in Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam movies. She has been working dedicatedly in the industry and has achieved four Filmfare Awards (South) and two South Indian International movie awards. She has been screened in various popular movies, including Kali, Gargi, Love Story, Fidaa, Premam, and many more.

In a promotional interview for her Telugu flick Virataparvam, Pallavi shared the story of why she wouldn’t wear short dresses in her films and how uncomfortable it made her feel that one time she did so in a dance video. It became apparent that she holds a strict no short dress rule for her films.

Since her acting debut in the Malayalam drama Premam, Sai Pallavi has consistently portrayed a highly clean character on screen, including her dressing style in the movies. In the aftermath of questioning about her clothing style, she shared a terrible experience where once she wore a short attire. When she was learning Tango, she performed in a competition where she was supposed to wear a slit dress.

As a good Indian customs daughter, she asked permission from her parents, who were comfortable with it. Later, when her acting was appreciated for her first movie, Premam, her tango dance video went viral. She added that people started commenting on her slit dress. This caused her to think of getting objectified, which also made her uncomfortable. And this incident made her be the way she is.

At the back foot, Sai Pallavi was recently seen in a movie playing the role of a woman who is fighting in court to have her father back, who was wrongfully detained in a gang rape case.
