The actor has shown a range of skills in different types of films he has acted in.

Here are 5 notable performances by Varun Dhawan where he displayed great acting prowess in the hands of a good director:

1. October

It is said that an ‘actor is as good as its director’ and Varun Dhawan is an example of the same. When working with great directors, Varun has shown his true side as an actor and has delivered noteworthy performances. In Shoojit Sircar’s ‘October’, Varun delivers his career-best performance showing a character arc and relationship with Shuili, played by Banita Sandhu, who lies numb on a hospital bed.

It is a must-watch if you have not and Varun portrays a difficult character arc and does justice to it. The film is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

2. Badlapur

The revenge drama by Sriram Raghavan and Mehmet Tutkun follows the protagonist going for revenge for something that happened 15 years ago. In the film, Varun Dhawan shows a wide range of emotions from anger to love to the idea of acceptance as his character goes through a lot. Acting opposite Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Varun Dhawan stood tall and delivered a performance his fans cherish to date.

‘Badlapur’ came after he did ‘SOTY’, ‘Main Tera Hero’ and ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’. The film is streaming on Jio Cinema.

3. Bhediya

After the success of ‘Stree’, Amar Kaushik came up with a werewolf drama ‘Bhediya’. Varun Dhawan delivered a performance to watch out for in the horror-comedy genre, alongside Kriti Sanon, Abhishek Banerjee and Deepak Dobriyal. His transformation scene gained a lot of appreciation from both critics and audience.

The film was released in theatres in November last year and the film is set to release on OTT soon. The makers have also announced a sequel to the movie.

4. ABCD 2

The sequel to Remo D’Souza’s ‘Any Body Can Dance’ was lauded for the performances and the storyline and Varun Dhawan delivered a strong performannce both in acting and dancing. Following the story of Fictitious Dance Group, the film won the hearts and Varun and Shraddha surpassed the challenge of dancing with professional dancers like Punit Pathak, Raghav Juyal, Lauren Gotleib and others.

Varun in the song ‘Chunar’ performed with all his heart and the film is streaming on Netfix as the actor’s fans would not like to miss the musical.

5. Jug Jugg Jeeyo

A film about two couples on the verge of separation, demanded good performances in the crucial moments and Varun Dhawan, Anil Kapoor and Neetu Singh delivered.
