New Delhi: In a recent Instagram post, Harsh Vardhan Kapoor found himself surrounded by backlash after urging his followers not to wear fake sneakers. The statement was given through his Instagram stories and quickly sparked a firestorm of controversy.
On Monday, Harsh Vardhan Kapoor took to his Instagram story to share the issue regarding fake sneakers saying, Don’t know who needs to hear this but please stop wearing fake sneakers. If you have having low to moderate budget, there are plenty of great options out there including Converse, Vans, basic Air Force, etc. If someone gifts you and they happen to be unauthentic. You can pass that gift to someone else who doesn’t know about the sneakers so much and would be happy to wear but if you are buying your own, please do your own loss and buy from a trusted brand and seller.

This seems to be his good-intentioned advice but did not go well with some netizens who quickly labeled him as elitist, accusing him of showing insensitivity, some of the netizens interpreted his words as telling fans not to be poor.
Harshvardhan Kapoor also appealed to his fans for fashion awareness by stating, Also, really hope more men/boys look into how they dress and invest in well in what they wear, again it doesn’t need to be expensive, there are tons and tons of cheaper options as well but no need to wear expensive pair of shoes if you don’t know how to put rest of it together.

Post the backlash, Harsh Vardhan took to X to clarify his statement but its not an apology, Instead Harsh Vardhan is doubling down on his stance, he said When he put this on his social media he already knew people would come out and will say anythinh but the truth is I have been taling about this long and I know my followers who are sneaker enthusiast can definitely relate.
