Watching a larger-than-life world through the genius lens of Sanjay Leela Bhansali is an experience all of us cherish. After Gangubai Kathiawadi broke our hearts and expanded our minds at the same time, we were all excited to see what Bhansali’s next project will be. Well, the wait is over as the first look of Heeramandi dropped on Social Media today. Blinded by the glow and grace captured in one frame we wonder how overwhelmingly beautiful this project will be. Being a Netflix series and the brilliant filmmaker’s first OTT show, we are promised more hours in the Bhansali universe and we’re not complaining!

While every actress wants to be a Bhansali heroine, this star cast is as scintillating as it can be. Starring Manisha Koirala, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharmin Segal, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Shaikh and Sonakshi Sinha, the teaser said “Where Courtesans Were Queens”. Giving us a glimpse into another magical world, this stellar star cast makes it all the more appealing. The teaser closes into each character and reveals something about all of them, the strength in their demeanor and the pain in their eyes all travel beyond the screen and into our hearts.

As reported by ANI this web series sets out to explore the stories of courtesans and the hidden cultural reality of Heeramandi. A dazzling district during pre-independent India, Heeramandi makes for a story about love, betrayal, succession and politics in the Kothas. Promising Bhansali’s extraordinary style of storytelling, soulful compositions and multi-faceted characters, the series will definitely be one of the most awaited releases this year. Though the background seems similar to Gangubai Kathiawadi, the story sure will give us something unseen and unexpected.
