The transgender activist Gauri Sawant will be played by Shusmita in the upcoming web series Taali. Gauri Sawant: Who is she?
In 2000, activist Gauri Sawant started the Sakhi Char Chowghi Trust. It is an NGO that offers counselling to transgender individuals and advocates for safe sex. The sixth episode of the series will focus on Sawant’s life, her challenges, and her journey to becoming India’s first transgender mother. In addition, it will emphasise the delicate mother-daughter relationship. The Mid-Day report stated that each day, the show needed between 25 and 50 transgender people.
Over 300 transgender actors have been hired for the crowd sequences that will be filmed over the next month. Two weeks of filming will take place at the Dahisar studio before the cast and crew relocate to the Lata Kunj villa in Irla.
