Highway 2: Suresh Gopi, Jayaraj reunite for sequel of superhit film; Check all about upcoming mystery-thriller

Gopi, who is celebrating his birthday on June 26, took on Twitter to announce his 254th film.

New Delhi: National Award-winning Malayalam filmmaker Jayaraj will reunite with superstar Suresh Gopi for his next thriller ‘Highway 2’. The film is expected to be a sequel to Highway (1995) directed by Jayaraaj.

Suresh Gopi made the announcement for the sequel ahead of his birthday. Gopi, who is celebrating his birthday on June 26, took on Twitter to announce his 254th film. The tweet also said that the film will be a ‘mystery action thriller’. Sharing the poster of ‘Highway 2- The Untitled’ Gopi also mentioned that the shoot for the movie will begin soon.

The 1995 film revolved around the story of Sreedhar Prasad, played by Suresh Gopi, who is a RAW officer and goes on to investigate a bomb blast that killed 30 college students. He disguises himself as a planter and befriends an ACP to uncover the disturbing details of the case. The superhit Malayalam film is streaming on MX Player.

As Suresh Gopi had a mass fan following in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh in the 1990s, the film also reached the Tamil and Telugu audiences. The film did well at the box office and the audience gave a positive reaction to it. Jayaraj and Suresh Gopi have worked together in many films such as ‘Ashwaroodan’, ‘Makalkku’, ‘Paithrukam’, ‘Highway’, and ‘Kaliyattam’. Kaliyattam won Suresh Gopi the National Film Award and Kerala State Film Award for best actor, also Jayaraj has received one of his seven National awards for this film.

The audience has shown their love for the duo in past and the excitement for Highway 2 is surely high.
