I Am Nevenka OTT Release: A gripping historical drama based on true events, I Am Nevenka is all set to make its much-anticipated debut on OTT.

The compelling Spanish series, which centers on a landmark case of justice and resilience, will soon be available for streaming, offering audiences a powerful look at the personal and political upheaval sparked by one woman’s courage.

The intense and emotionally resonant drama I Am Nevenka will be available to stream on Netflix starting May 23, 2025.

Plot

In the year 2000, Nevenka Fernández, a determined and ambitious 24-year-old serving as the Councilor for Finance in the City Council of Ponferrada, found herself at the center of a deeply troubling and isolating ordeal. Behind the scenes of local politics, she became the target of persistent and invasive harassment—both emotional and professional—at the hands of the town’s powerful mayor. This man, long used to wielding influence unchecked in both political and personal spheres, relentlessly pursued and manipulated her, abusing his authority in ways that left Nevenka feeling cornered and increasingly alone.

Despite the enormous risk, Nevenka made the life-altering decision to take legal action, fully aware that doing so would come at a steep personal cost. Her courage, however, was met not with the support one might expect, but with an overwhelming wave of criticism, rejection, and hostility. Her colleagues distanced themselves, the local society turned against her, and the media subjected her to a punishing public trial that questioned not only her allegations but also her character.

Yet, Nevenka stood firm. Her decision to bring her harasser—one of the most prominent and respected political figures in Ponferrada—before a court marked a historic and unprecedented moment in Spain. It was the first time an influential politician was formally charged and convicted for both sexual and workplace harassment, setting a legal and cultural precedent that would echo far beyond her small town.

This story, inspired by real events, captures the harrowing reality of speaking truth to power and the emotional toll it can exact on those who dare to confront systemic abuse. Nevenka Fernández’s stand transformed her into a symbol of resistance and paved the way for future conversations on gender, justice, and accountability in the political landscape.
