New Delhi: Actor Alaya F, who is the daughter of actress Pooja Bedi and granddaughter of Kabir Bedi, opened up about the topic of nepotism. In a recent interview, she accepted having certain privileges and candidly talked about nepotism’s role in her career so far. The actor also revealed about choosing ‘F’ instead of her full surname ‘Furniturewala’ in name.
In the interview with the entertainment media portal Koimoi, Alaya said that people do relate her to nepotism and added that she has the privilege and she takes note of and responsibility for that privilege. The actor acknowledged that some things have been easier for her while some things have not.
Talking further, she said that her nepotism got her a certain amount of access, but it never got her a film, while she acknowledged that access is the most important thing as getting into ‘those rooms’ is the hardest. Alaya said that she cannot change where she was born and the way she was raised, so this conversation is an ‘endless loop’. She added that her work is in her hand and she tries to make the most out of it.
On having ‘Bedi’ and ‘Furniturewala’ names as backing, the actor said that she supposes those names will always be there, and she is proud to have those names. About using ‘F’ in her surname, she said that it is not because she wants to run away from privilege, but because ‘Furniturewala’ makes her name longer so she has always used Alaya F instead.
Alaya was last seen in Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Almost Pyaar With DJ Mohabbat’ and will be seen in ‘U Turn’ alongside Aashim Gulati, Priyanshu Painyuli and Rajesh Sharma. Directed by Arif Khan, the film will release on April 28 on Zee5.
