International Women’s Day 2022: Top women-centric shows on Netflix coming your way in March; Check inside

This month is observed to celebrate the achievement of women and like a global festival, different sectors from all around the world chip in for the big month.

New Delhi: Today we are commemorating International Women’s Day (IWD) globally. Every year IWD is celebrated on March 8. The day aims to celebrate womanhood in every corner of the earth with much respect and love. UN Women decided the theme for International Women’s Day 2022 (IWD2022) as ‘Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow.’

Besides, the month of March is considered as the women’s history month. This month is observed to celebrate the achievement of women and like a global festival, different sectors from all around the world chip in for the big month. From campaigns to new movie releases, the month is filled with new content.

Netflix has compiled some of the old and new big shows, documentaries, and movies on its platforms, showing woman-centric content releasing this month. Let’s take a look:

1. Bad Vegan – March 16

The documentary is directed by Chris Smith, who is famous for directing another popular documentary named Tiger King in 2020. The documentary narrates the journey of Sarma Melngailis from a vegan restaurateur to jail. Melngailis was involved in major fraud including tax, labour, and grand larceny. 

2. The Principles of Pleasure – March 22

This docuseries concentrates on exploring female pleasure and the myths associated with it. Through interviews with women and experts, the series breaks the myths about the female body and the mystery around female orgasms. The series also features American comedian Michelle Buteau.

3. Marilyn’s Eyes – March 15

Directed by Simone Godano, the film is about two people who met each other at a mental institution. They talk about restaurants and food and bring them forth into reality. The plot shows that the main character is in search of what they need in life to go forward. The movie includes Miriam Leone, Stefano Accorsi, Thomas Trabacchi, Mariano Pirrello among others in pivotal roles.

4. Autumn Girl – March 8

This film is set in the backdrop of the 1960s, where a woman named Kalina Jedrusik is an actor at the height of her popularity. She is married but makes love to “whoever she wants.” The film shows how gradually she is being banned from television and is forced to fight for her freedom. The film is directed by Katarzyna Klimkiewicz and has Maria Debska in the lead.
