New Delhi: Japan, a Tamil heist action-comedy starring Karthi, hit cinemas on November 10, in the Diwali week. Anu Emmanuel, Sunil, and K.S. Ravikumar were all prominent actors in the film, which was written and directed by Raju Murugan.

Japan, Karthi’s most recent film, won over audiences with its thrilling action scenes and the commendable performance by the actors. Overall, critics were divided on the picture, and it was only a mediocre financial success. But director Raju Murugan put a unique spin on the heist action thriller.

Next up for the picture is its OTT debut on Netflix. The streaming portal finally confirmed the reports by posting a banner announcing the release date of the Karthi starrer online.

When and Where to Watch?

Netflix has announced on its official social media page that Monday, December 11, will be the date of Karthi’s Japan’s much-anticipated OTT premiere. The movie will be available on the streaming service in four different languages – Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, and Kannada.

The announcement was tweeted by the Netflix India South account in Tamil, which means, “Are you ready to see whether or not the whale gets caught in this story?

#Japan, coming to Netflix in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada on 11 Dec!”

Plot

The film follows Karthi’s character, the infamous thief Japan Muni, who is known for spreading his heists in movies. Japan becomes the main suspect when 200 pounds of jewels are taken, which sets off a game of cat-and-mouse between him and government investigators. It all starts with the question of whether the criminal stole the jewels or is a victim of a frame-up.

Other Details

Karthi is widely considered to be one of the most adaptable performers working in Tamil film today. After a long absence, the actor was able to return to his comfort zone in Japan.

Fans and reviewers alike gave the picture mixed reviews upon its debut, with some praising Karthi and others lauding the acting while others criticising the narrative for being too slow.

Japan, meanwhile, has Ravi Varman behind the camera and SR Prakash Babu and SR Prabhu as financiers via Dream Warrior Pictures. Editing was done by Philomin Raj.
