New Delhi: ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star Johnny Depp spent $62,000 (Rs. 48.17 lakh) on a celebratory dinner with his friends. A report said that the dinner was organised in Birmingham, England on June 5.

Depp was celebrating the trial victory in a defamation case against his ex-wife Amber Heard.

According to the New York Post, Depp had a feast of authentic Indian cuisines, cocktails and rose champagne at Varanasi Restaurant, Birmingham’s largest Indian restaurant. Varanasi restaurant was closed so that Depp and his friends can privately enjoy the dinner. Johnny Depp was with Jeff Beck and 20 other people at the 20,000-square-foot restaurant.

Mohammed Hussain, operations director of Varanasi, told the outlet: “We had a call out of the blue on Sunday afternoon saying that Johnny Depp wanted to come to eat with a group of people.”

He added, “I was shocked, and at first, I thought it might have been a wind up [joke]. But then his security team arrived [and] checked out the restaurant, and we let them have the whole place because we were concerned that he might be bothered by other diners.”

The Indian delicacies included in the dinner were shish kebabs, chicken tikka, paneer tikka masala, lamb karahi and tandoori king prawns. For the dessert, they had simple cheesecake and panna cotta.

Johnny Depp also interacted with the staff and posed for a few photos. The most surprising moment for the operations director was when Depp came to his office and talked about CCTVs. Depp took a 20-minutes break from his guests and sat in Hussain’s office. “It was a real honour to have him here,” Hussain said.
