Amid this anticipation and buzz, movie producer K E Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green revealed the setting of the duo’s upcoming film.

New Delhi: Fans are waiting for filmmaker Vetrimaaran to collab with Dhanush for yet another groundbreaking film. Amid this anticipation and buzz, movie producer K E Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green revealed the setting of the duo’s upcoming film. The producer also talked about a crucial plot point of Pa Ranjith’s ‘Thangalaan’.

Talking to entertainment media firm Behindwoods, Gnanavel Raja said that Vetrimaaran will be working on a film about Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) with Dhanush in the lead. While ‘Thangalaan’ is also based on KGF, Vetrimaaran’s film will be based on the research and findings about the location, while Pa Ranjith’s film is about his discoveries.

He added that both films might have some similar elements but the presentation and the point of view will be the difference.

KGF has been used as the setting of the popular Kannada film ‘KGF’ and the films set in gold or coal fields thereafter have been compared to the Yash starrer, which broke several records at the box office.

Vetrimaaran made his directorial debut with Dhanush starrer ‘Polladhavan’ and since then, they have worked on iconic films ‘Aadukalam’, ‘Vada Chennai’, and ‘Asuran’.

At the audio launch event of ‘Rudhran’, the filmmaker said that ‘Vada Chennai 2’ will happen after the release of ‘Viduthalai: Part 2’ and ‘Vaadivaasal’. Whether the elements of KGF will be part of ‘Vada Chennai 2’ or a different project is not known yet.

Vetrimaaran’s film ‘Viduthalai: Part 1’ starring Vijay Sethupathi was recently released and was well received by the audience and critics. The film dealt with the issue of police brutality and was another inclusion to Vetrimaaran’s socio-political dramas. The director is currently working on ‘Vaadivaasal’ starring Suriya.

Dhanush, who was last seen in ‘Vaathi’ alongside Samyuktha Menon, has Arun Matheswaran’s ‘Captain Miller’ in the pipeline.
