New Delhi: Following its grand screening in the 36th Tokyo International Film Fest on last year’s 24 October, Shaheizy Sam & Sharifah Amani starrer Malaysian rom-com La Luna was released in the Malaysian markets on November 9, 2023.
Following that, the remedy also made it to the big screens in Singapore & Indonesia on 9 November & 6 December respectively. Now, after completing a remarkable BO journey in the Southeast-Asian markets, the film is all set to entertain the OTTians by arriving on the digital platform Netflix this month.
La Luna OTT Release Date:
The makers of the movie have confirmed that La Luna will be available for streaming on Netflix from 9 February onward. This means that the international audience, which had no access to the movie until now, will also be able to enjoy it sitting on their couch at home. However, a Subscription to Netflix’s services will be required to watch the Singapore-Malaysia co-production on the Digital platform.
La Luna Story
Helmed & written by ace director M. Raihan Halim, La Luna is a tale that challenges the religious extremism and orthodox mindset of the society.
The film’s story, which takes place in the dull & lifeless Malaysian village of Bras Basah, revolves around the life of a strong-headed city girl Hanie (Played by Sharifah Amani) who becomes the talking point among the villagers after she decides to open a lingerie boutique on the land she received through the will of her late granddad.
However, her idea soon sparks a massive outrage in the entire village with intolerant & religiously orthodox leader mullah Tok Hassan & his blind supporters leaving no stone unturned in making her lingerie shop business unsuccessful. How the woman fights off the hatred thrown at her by the orthodox forces and grows her business & customer base is the remaining part of the movie.

The movie has been produced jointly by Asra Aman & Faith Mak and was released under the banners of Clover Films, ACT 2 Pictures, One Cool Film Production, and Papahan Films.
