Latest Releases: Top 5 movies and shows to binge-watch this weekend

The much anticipated web show delves into an ancient myth of a half-panther creature in a fictional small town of misty Himalayas.

New Delhi: Over-the-top platforms as well as multiplexes have some noteworthy contents released in the second week of December. The theatres were graced by ace film maker Abhishek Kapoor directorial ‘Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui’ on Friday, critically hailed for breaking the stereotypes along with its excellent comic scenes.

While on the digital slots, new Netflix release ‘Aranyak’ that marks the digital debut of Mohra actress Raveena Tandon seems to be the new talk of the town.

1. Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui 

Abhishek Kapoor directorial comedy-drama starring Ayushmann Khurana and Vaani Kapoor hit the theatres on December 10. The plot of the film revolves around a weightlifting champ who falls in love with the new Zumba instructor at his gym. Though things go awry when she reveals about being a trans-woman.

2. Aranyak

Raveena Tandon’s digital debut Aranyak streamed on digital giant Netflix on December 10. The much anticipated web show delves into an ancient myth of a half-panther creature in a fictional small town of misty Himalayas. The show revolves around Raveena as a cop facing the supernatural element in a dense forest along with Ashutosh Rana.

3. Aarya 2 

Created by Ram Madhvani, the International Emmy nominated action drama series is back with a second season. Sushmita Sen after losing her husband in the first season is returning to combat her worst demons in the new sequel on disney+ hotstar.

4. The Unforgivable 

After serving in prison for an act of violence, Ruth Slater (Bullock) returns back to the normal societal norms only to find out that she isn’t accepted in the society anymore like earlier. After being repeatedly judged from all around her only absolution is to find her estranged sister she once forced to abandon.

5. West Side Story 

Directed by Academy Award winner Steven Spielberg, the newly released movie is the much awaited adaptation of the 1957 Broadway musical ‘West Side Story’. The movie made its theatrical release on Dec 10.
