Leo’s Director Responds to Criticism of Vijay’s Cussing Dialogue in Film Trailer

According to reports, Lokesh Kanagaraj’s film, which he also directed, has been given a U/A rating and an A certificate for its trailer, respectively.

New Delhi: The trailer for Thalapathy Vijay’s next flick, Leo, generated considerable discussion online. Ahead of the film’s theatrical debut on October 19, fans spent some time spreading the news and sharing their reactions as it was officially announced by the creators.

However, some viewers have criticised the film’s creators and star Vijay over some dialogues said in the trailer. In a scene, Vijay’s character, Parthiban, uses a slur while speaking to an opponent. His devoted followers were disturbed by the incident. They complained on social media, pointing out that Vijay has a large following among children and teenagers, and that this may be a horrible example to set.

According to reports, Lokesh Kanagaraj’s film, which he also directed, has been given a U/A rating and an A certificate for its trailer, respectively.

Here is the Trailer:

The filmmaker said in a recent interview that he will accept all the responsibility for the criticism. Lokesh told Cinema Vikatan YouTube that Parthiban said that not the actor himself. The director said the foul word was important at that moment to depict the protagonist’s actual sentiments.

He said, “For that movie and that scene, that word and emotion was needed. We utter some words out of anger at times, this is that. And when we were about to shoot that scene, Thalapathy Vijay asked me ‘Is this okay? or will it go wrong if I say this?’ Then, I convinced him that it was the correct thing for that character to do, for that scene. And I’ll take all the blame. It was not mouthed by actor Thalapathy Vijay. It is said by Parthiban, his character in Leo.”
