The series is gearing up to stream soon on Amazon Prime Video starting the 30th of April, 2025.
Plot
Dr. John Dempsey, a seasoned and skeptical American scientist known for his work in evolutionary biology, is dispatched to the misty Scottish Highlands with one clear mission: to debunk the age-old myth of the Loch Ness Monster once and for all. A firm believer in science and logic, Dr. Dempsey views the assignment as little more than a publicity stunt—an opportunity to apply rational thought to centuries of superstition.
When Dempsey arrives in the quiet, picturesque village by Loch Ness, the locals greet him with a mix of curiosity and quiet resistance, clinging to their deep-rooted beliefs in the legend. Among them is Laura McFadden, a warm-hearted innkeeper with a mysterious air and a strong connection to the loch. Unlike the skeptics Dempsey usually encounters, Laura neither argues nor mocks him; instead, she welcomes him into her inn and challenges him to keep an open mind.
As days pass and Dempsey struggles to find scientific evidence to support or deny the myth, Laura takes a leap of trust. One foggy morning, she guides him to a hidden cove tucked away from prying eyes, a place she insists holds the truth he came looking for. What Dempsey witnesses there shatters his worldview: emerging from the deep waters is a small group of creatures—living, breathing beings that resemble the long-extinct plesiosaurs, the creatures often associated with Nessie folklore.
Rather than a lone monster, these gentle, aquatic giants appear to be a small family—possibly the last of their kind—thriving quietly in isolation. Overwhelmed by the revelation, Dempsey must grapple with his lifelong convictions as he considers the implications of their existence: the scientific breakthroughs they represent, and the danger exposure might bring to their fragile habitat.
