New Delhi: Anupam Kher recently discussed actor Mahima Chaudhry’s battle with breast cancer on Instagram. Kher shared a lengthy video in which he was seen questioning Mahima about the therapy and how she was currently feeling.
Mahima, who had received chemotherapy and had cut her hair, appeared a little overwhelmed in the video as she described her cancer story.
“Surprisingly, ever since I lost my hair, I have been receiving a lot of requests for shows, online series,” she said after the amount of calls she received to star in projects after losing her hair to the disease. ‘Oh my gosh, why now?’ I exclaimed. ‘I don’t even have hair,’ she says. As a result, I didn’t tell them. And I informed you because I couldn’t tell you anything else. “I don’t know, I just get so emotional,” she confessed on camera as she sobbed.
“I didn’t have any symptoms, it was just an annual check-up,” Mahima remarked when asked how she found out she had the disease. I was getting my normal tests done when the person performing them suggested that I get this checked out. When they told me I needed to get chemotherapy (done), I started crying. ‘It can be treated,’ my sister said. ‘Why are you acting like a 17th century woman?’ she asked. But then you’re afraid of the word cancer, which is why I first didn’t tell my parents because they are so susceptible.”
Anupam Kher also made an appearance in the video near the conclusion, praising Mahima for coping with cancer in such a positive way. Mahima also stated that when she first learned of her condition, she would grieve for days, but that an interaction with a youngster who was also undergoing treatment changed her perspective. “I’m in such a wonderful mood. I was suffering and crying all the time till I saw this little guy who gave me confidence and asked, ‘Arey aapki dawai bas itni hai?’ (You only have this much medicine; I’ve been given a lot of them.)” She closed the video by assuring everyone that she is alright now: “I am fine, by the way, and I have completely recovered.”
