Malayalam director Manu James passes away ahead of his debut release – Nancy Rani

Manu James died on February 25 in Rajagiri hospital, where he’d been hospitalized for hepatitis.

New Delhi: On February 25, debut cinematographer Joseph Manu James died at a private hospital in Aluva, Kerala’s Ernakulam. On February 26, Sunday, at 3 p.m., his funeral was held at Ernakulam. He was 31. He was treated at the hospital after being given a pneumonia diagnosis, and he succumbed to hepatitis, according to the physicians. Nancy Rani, his directorial debut, is set to be released soon.

Manu James died on February 25 in Rajagiri hospital, where he’d been hospitalized for hepatitis. On February 26, he was cremated at the Major Archiepiscopal Marth Mariam Archdeacon Church in Kuravilangad.

His unexpected death sent shockwaves through the Malayalam cinema industry. Nancy Rani, his debut film, stars Ahaana Krishna and Arjun Ashokan. The film is set to be released in just a few days.

When Ahaana learned of his death, she was devastated. “Rest in peace, Manu!” she posted on her Instagram Stories. It should never have happened to you! Aju Varghese expressed his condolences, writing, “Gone too soon brother.”

Manu made his feature film debut as a kid actor in Sabu James’ I am Curious. In 2004, the picture was released theatrically. Years down the line, he served as both an assistant and co-director on numerous Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi films.

Former performers Sreenivasan, Lal, Lena, and Indrans were among those who paid respect to Manu James.
