Malayalam film CBI 5 now streaming on Netflix

New Delhi: ‘CBI 5: The Brain’ is a Malayalam film that hit the theatres on May 1, 2022. The Mammootty starrer is releasing on Netflix on June 12.

The fifth instalment of the CBI series is directed by K. Madhu and written by S.N. Swamy. The film CBI 5: The Brain follows an investigation which is considered the most challenging case in the career of Sethurama Iyer, an SSP in CBI. The story revolves around a basket killing of several people connected to each other. The conspiracy behind the killing makes it an edge-of-the-seat thriller.

Now, the film is changing its platform, from theatres to OTT and will be streaming on Netflix. The film also features Chandunath and Dileesh Pothan in leading roles.

The promo of the film CBI 5 was lighted up on the Burj Khalifa on April 29. The movie was released on May 1, the day of the Eid.

10 per cent of the total minutes viewed on the over-the-top (OTT) platforms were from the content in the four South Indian languages, which are, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada. OTT platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime are looking to acquire more of the content from the southern part of India as the numbers are proving them to be banked upon. Even the dubbed version of these movies is proving to be successful. In future, there can be more such acquiring of South Indian movies by the OTT platforms.
