‘Might get into trouble for saying…’: Priyanka Chopra gets pay parity in ‘Citadel’ for first time in her career

She told that in her 22-year career featuring more than 70 feature films and two shows, ‘Citadel’ was the first time that she had pay parity.

New Delhi: Priyanka Chopra Jonas, in a recent interview, opened up about getting equal pay for the first time in her career. In an interview with Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke at the South by Southwest Film Festival (SXSW) 2023, she talked about being 22 years into the entertainment industry and ‘Citadel’ being her first venture where she gets pay parity.

Priyanka Chopra will next be seen in the Hollywood show ‘Citadel’ alongside Richard Madden. The actor said that she might get into trouble for saying this, depending on who is watching. She told that in her 22-year career featuring more than 70 feature films and two shows, ‘Citadel’ was the first time that she had pay parity. Priyanka added that she is laughing about it but it is ‘kind of n*ts’.

Talking about pay parity, she said that she puts in the same amount of investment and work, but gets paid less. She added that Amazon Studios said with ease that she deserves pay parity for being co-leads and it is just ‘fair’.

Amazon Studios recently released the trailer of the upcoming web series, which was well received by the audience and looking at the star cast, ‘Citadel’ is one of the much-anticipated shows this year. The makers also released a new clip, where Mason Kane, played by Madden explains to Nadia Sinh, played by Priyanka, her history as a spy. The clip also reveals that someone erased Nadia’s memory.

‘Citadel’ also stars Stanley Tucci, Lesley Manville, Osy Ikhile and Ashleigh Cummings. Backed by the Russo Brothers, the show will release on Amazon Prime Video on April 28.
