Miss USA 2019 Cheslie Kryst dies at 30: Here are some unknown facts about her

Cheslie Kryst was crowned Miss USA 2019 by her predecessor, Sarah Rose Summers, died by suicide at the age of 30.

Cheslie Kryst, Miss USA 2019 and EXTRA host allegedly died by suicide after jumping off from the roof of her NYC condo. Kryst’s body was found on Sunday at 7:05 AM on the sidewalk outside the Orion Condominium building. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Confirming the death of the 30-year-old beauty queen, a statement read, “In devastation and great sorrow, we share the passing of our beloved Cheslie.”  The statement further added, “Her great light inspired others worldwide with her beauty and strength. She cared, she loved, she laughed, and she shined. Cheslie embodied love and served others, whether through her work as an attorney fighting for social justice, as Miss USA and as a host on Extra. But most importantly, as a daughter, sister, friend, mentor and colleague – we know her impact will live on.”

  • Kryst attended the University of South Carolina Honors College from where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in law. She holds a spot on the school’s top 10 record book for triple jump.
  • Kryst later attended Wake Forest University to obtain her Master’s and Juris Doctorate.
  • Kryst was a bright and successful lawyer. She worked at the Poyner Spruill Law Firm as an associate, focusing on complex civil litigation.
  • She was an active contributor to society. She was one of the members of the Board of Directors of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Carolinas. She was part of Dress for Success Charlotte, Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts & Culture, and the Mecklenburg County Bar.
  • Kryst made several TV appearances from being a panellist at Black Girl Beauty and a guest on The Kelly Clarkson Show to Live with Kelly and Ryan. She appeared as Miss USA in Ava DuVernay and Colin Kaepernick’s Colin in Black and White. She was the brand ambassador for Express.
