Mission Raniganj Teaser out: Akshay Kumar’s rescue drama is based on real life incident

New Delhi: Akshay Kumar is back with the teaser of his new film just after few days of his last release OMG 2. In his new film Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue, he will be playing the role of an Engineer Jaswant Singh Gill who rescues  some miners trapped in the coalmines. The teaser of the film was out on Thursday evening giving us a glimpse into the odds Jaswant was stacked  against in the mission.

The teaser shows the real life story set in 1989 in the Raniganj Coalfields when 65 miners get stuck a mine after an unforeseen downpour. The miners were presumed dead by the most, before engineer Jaswant Singh Gill steps  in promising to rescue them even if one of the 65 miner is alive in the mine.

Akshay is seen playing the character of Jaswant Singh. He is seen wearing a turban along with glasses and simple cotton shirt and T-shirs. He is playing a Sikh character not for the first, before this also he has played as havildar Ishar Singh in Kesari movie in 2019. After a gap of four years he will be again seen in a turban avatar. The movie was based on the Battle of Saragarhi and Parineeti Chopra was also the part of the film. In Mission Raniganj  also Parineeti will be seen opposite Akshay Kumar as seen in the teaser.

Akshay for the first time played the character of Sikh in Anees Bazmee’s action comedy Singh Is King in 2008.
