New Delhi: On Thursday, the Multiplex Association of India (MAI) announced that on October 13, 2023, cinemas throughout India would commemorate National Cinema Day 2023 by offering discounted movie tickets for as little as 99 (excluding recliner and premium formats).
Instead of celebrating National Cinema Day on its traditional date of September 16, this year’s celebration will take place on October 13. On National Cinema Day, we celebrate the moviegoers who make the film industry what it is today.
Discounts on cinema tickets are offered as a welcome offer on this day. On Cinema Day, moviegoers demonstrate their support for filmmakers by spending their time and money at theatres.
The purpose of this holiday was to welcome back moviegoers from across the nation following COVID-19.

The reason for this is a tradition started by multiplexes last year when the cinema industry was struggling with post-pandemic theatre closures and underperforming films. It may have begun as a marketing ploy to get through a slow period, but it now offers significant discounts to moviegoers.
Tickets to several Indian movies have been significantly discounted since last year when the country’s major cinema operators joined together to commemorate National Cinema Day.

Simply choose the films you like to see and the day Friday, and reserve the ticket. There are still no Friday ticket booking options for several of the overseas films. Popular films from India, however, can be purchased at a discount. Multiplexes may add their fees and taxes to the ticket costs.
