Plot
The plot of the series lingers around a young orphaned boy in his teens, Takashi Natsume who holds the ability to perceive and combat Yokai. On a random day, Takashi stumbles upon an old worn notebook that belonged to his maternal grandmother, Reiko, who was an exorcist.
The book the young teen comes across was used by his grandmother to bind dozens of powerful demonic spirits, both good and evil that she defeated in battle, to follow her every whim and desire and be summoned on command by her.
Takashi seeks to give back each and every name in this old worn out notebook. that he named his ‘Book of Friends’. In the process of this conquest, he joins forces with a feline wolf life spirit named Madara, who was familiar with Takashi’s grandmother when the woman was still alive.
The feline spirit takes the shape of an oversized cat, with the intention to take the book from Takashi once he dies, until then, a deal is struck, that the feline spirit will protect Takashi from the spirits with evil intentions who wish to bring him harm because of being related to Reiko, his grandmother who died in her young adult years decades prior to when the story takes place.
