OMG 2 OTT Release Date & Platform: Uncut version to release on OTT

The movie is reportedly about sex education and is meant to teach teens, hence the creators sought a U/A certificate. However, the ‘A’ certificate was the most they could hope for to get the picture into theatres.

New Delhi: On August 11, 2023, one of the year’s most anticipated movies, Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2, was finally released. The film is a follow-up to the successful 2012 film – OMG and stars Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi, and Paresh Rawal.

Akshay Kumar’s depiction of Lord Shiva was one of the most controversial aspects of OMG 2. Sex education is another issue explored in the film.

According to reports, the CBFC board gave the film a close look because of complaints against another film starring Prabhas, Adipurush, which was released in June of this year. OMG 2 received an ‘A – Adults Only’ rating after much debate and 27 alterations, ending weeks of suspense.

The movie is reportedly about sex education and is meant to teach teens, hence the creators sought a U/A certificate. However, the ‘A’ certificate was the most they could hope for to get the picture into theatres.

A recent interview conducted by the PTI included the director Amit Rai, who said that the team was heartbroken by the ‘A’ certificate. He also said that there will be no cuts of the film’s OTT release; they will release the uncut version for the OTT.

Although OMG 2’s OTT platform has yet to be revealed, there are rumours that it will debut on Zee5 in late September 2023.

The production firm has remained silent, but rumours have claimed that Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited has purchased the rights to the film for 80 crores.

The film’s creators have not yet verified these rumours.
