Oscar Magic: Indigo Pilot’s special gesture for The Elephant Whisperers’ Bomman and Bellie [VIDEO]

Bomman and Bellie are both 54 years old. The duo fell in love while taking care of two injured elephants, Raghu and Amu.

New Delhi: Kartiki Gonsalves and Guneet Monga’s documentary ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ hasn’t left the headlines ever since it bagged India her first Oscar.

By winning the coveted accolade, the documentary turned the spotlight on the Elephant caretaker community.

Giving the lead couple Bomman and Bellie their much-deserved attention, an Indigo Pilot left the Internet amazed with his heartfelt gesture.

In a video shared by IAS officer Supriya Sahu via Twitter, an Indigo Pilot can be heard making a special announcement for Bomman and Bellie.

The Pilot honoured the couple by exclaiming that they(the flight) are fortunate to have them on board. He asked the passengers to give Bomman and Bellie a round of applause.

The flight was going to Ooty.

As the passengers began clapping, the Elephant Whisperers duo joined hands to express gratitude.

The video became an instant hit on Twitter and garnered over 2k likes with many appreciative comments.

One user replied, “lovely gesture by Pilot.”

Another wrote,” Thanks Indigo for this beautiful gesture.”

Bomman and Bellie are both 54 years old. The duo fell in love while taking care of two injured elephants, Raghu and Amu.

As the Elephant Whisperers documented, Bomman walked in his father’s footsteps and took the task of taking care of the abandoned calves. He has worked closely with the forest department.

Bellie, who has lost her husband and daughter in tragic ways, took solace in providing motherly love to the injured elephants.

After their Oscars victory, Bomman and Bellie got their much-deserved recognition from their tribal community Kuttunayakans as well as the state government.

As a token of appreciation, 91 Mahouts at the Theppakadu and Kozhikamuthi elephant camps received 1 lakh each from the government of Tamil Nadu.
