OTT release: Hotstar’s Grahan series inspired by a novel, makes for compelling watch (VIDEO)

Set in Jharkhand, the OTT series begins in 2016 with the abduction and murder of a young journalist. He was trying to unearth the names responsible for the 1984 anti-Sikh riots in Bokaro, which resulted in massacre of Sikhs.

New Delhi: The Web-series ‘Grahan’, streaming exclusively on Disney+ Hotstar makes for a compelling watch. Inspired by Satya Vyas’ Hindi book Chaurasi, the latest Hotstar series traverses 2 tales of th same story, set three decades apart.

Set in Jharkhand, the series begins in 2016 with the abduction and murder of a young journalist. He was trying to unearth the names responsible for the 1984 anti-Sikh riots in Bokaro, which resulted in massacre of Sikhs.

As it’s election time in Jharkhand, Chief Minister sets a SIT team by Amrita Singh (Zoya Hussain) to investigate old cases of Bokaro riots. During investigation, she finds out that her father, Gursevak (Pavan Malhotra) was apparently one of the rioters. She fails to get to the root of it, following which she chooses to unravel the dark truth on her own.

With eight episodes of 40-50 minutes each, the series can be easily binge-watched over the weekend.

Grahan cast:

Zoya Hussain

Zoya Hussain from Anurag Kashyap’s Mukkabaaz has worked in several movies since 2017 debut. In Grahan, she plays an upright officer who will stop at nothing to investigate the case and dig out the truth.

Anshuman Pushkar

Anshuman Pushkar gained recognition after his beautiful portrayal of character in Netflix’s Jamtara – Sabka Number Aayega. In Grahan, he plays role of Rishi Ranjan, whose role in 1984 riots accelerates the plot of the story.

Pavan Malhotra

Pavan Malhotra is known actor in Hindi and Punjabi cinemas. Having given past memorable performances, Pavan plays the role of Gursevak Singh, Amrita’s father in the web-series.
