Poisoned-The Dirty Truth About Your Food Review: Netflix documentary that will make you think what to eat

It is based on the perils of being a consumer in the United States of America, a country where rules and regulations are more robust than ours, the movie showcases how the regular food we consume can cause not only serious illness but can also lead to horrible deaths.

The recently released Netflix series ‘Poisoned: The Dirty Truth About  Your Food’ can be a nightmare experience. Although it doesn’t have a scary scene still it is the most terrifying movie of the year.


It is based on the perils of being a consumer in the United States of America, a country where rules and regulations are more robust than ours, the movie showcases how the regular food we consume can cause not only serious illness but can also lead to horrible deaths. Directed by Stephanie Soechtig touches on the most heart-wrenching story of a middle-class man who suffer the loss of his baby child to an E-coil outbreak caused by contaminated Hamburgers in the early 90s.

Set in the era of 1992-1993, when E-coil outbroke, the tragedy exposed the many ways in which the simple act of eating fast food turned out to be the cause of death of many in the country. Most of the victims of this outbreak were children under the age of 10. The film has a run time of one hour and 15 minutes during which it has maintained a sense of outrage. The main character in the film is a lawyer named Billi Marler, who secures a  settlement of $15 million for his client after the E- coil outbreak came out to be a prominent cause in the fight for food safety.

Its not only the  animal related product that causes the risk but its the romaine luttece . Food items including spinach, melon, chicken even eggs have some kind of bacteria, everthing can be fatal. It also reveals the horrific truth of how chicken and peanut factories are operated. The documentary also states the stastics and historical context  and also includes the organisations like Food and Drug Administration  and the United States Department Of Agriculture on the  table of accountability.

The most sobering moment comes at the end when most of the microbiologist admit thet they themselves avoaid eating such food. There is a message, that one should know what they are putting inside the body. Netflix has came up with several such social issues, one of such documentary is Social Delima.
