New Delhi: Lyca Productions dropped the first song from Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus ‘Ponniyin Selvan 2’. The makers have shared a lyrical video of ‘Aga Naga’ composed by AR Rahman under the banner of Tips. The Hindi version of the song is sung by Shilpa Rao and the lyrics are penned by the legendary poet Gulzar.
The song features actors Karthi as Vallavaraiyan Vandiyadevan and Trisha Krishnan as Kundavai in the music video. Karthi and Trisha also had a fun conversation via tweet to promote the song.
‘Aga Naga’ has been released in Hindi as ‘Ruaa Ruaa’ and has also been released in Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. ‘Aga Naga’, the Tamil version, is sung by Shakthishree Gopalan and penned by Ilango Krishnan.
It is a love song between the characters and the lyrical video shows them in form of an animation. The song begins with the couple in the lap of nature and takes the audience into their royal lives. It is melodious track and dives deep into the emotions and layers of love.

The film is based on Kalki’s novel ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ and follows the Chola empire. The sequel will revolve around Arulmozhi Varman’s journey to become Rajaraja I, the greatest known ruler of his empire. The film also stars ‘Chiyaan’ Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Prakash Raj and Nassar.
Screenplay for ‘PS 2’ is penned by Mani Ratnam, Jeyamohan and Kumaravel and shot by DoP Ravi Varman. The film will release on April 28, under the banners of Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies.
