Plot
The narrative of Bella Baxter, a young lady who is brought back to life by the brilliant and unorthodox scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter after she meets a tragic end, is told in Poor Things, which is a reimagining of Frankenstein. Bella struggles to regain her footing in the world while trying to sort out her own identity issues with the help of Dr. Godwin. Still, she can’t shake the idea that she’s stuck and lost, so she embarks on a fantastical journey with a dubious lawyer named Duncan Wedderburn. Bella develops and seeks answers as she traverses the numerous forms and prejudices of the period in the hopes of liberty.
POOR THINGS is the most technically dazzling film Yorgos Lanthimos has constructed. A sexually liberating, pro-feminist, imaginative tale of reawakening & discovery featuring the best performance of Emma Stone’s career. Mark Ruffalo has never been funnier. A sensational triumph! pic.twitter.com/MqwJp8fQmG
