New Delhi: Thalpathy Vijay is set to clash with Prabhas at the box office. Makers released a poster of Vijay’s upcoming release ‘Varisu’ sharing that the film will be released on Pongal, while ‘Adipurush’ will release on January 12, two days before the Pongal holidays. This is set to be one of the biggest clashes between two South Indian film stars.

On Diwali, makers released a poster of ‘Varisu’ showing Vijay holding a sledgehammer while walking and an army of people who are lying on the ground writhing in pain after Vijay thrashes them. The poster also states that the film will be a worldwide Pongal release and that the ‘boss man’ Vijay returns to the big screen.

Meanwhile, Prabhas’s ‘Adipurush’, which is a mythological drama based on the epic Ramayana, received a setback after the teaser release. The film is written and directed by Om Raut and also stars Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh and Kriti Sanon as Sita, while Prabhas plays the titular character. The film faced a backlash for its VFX quality and allegedly hurting Hindu sentiments.

There are reports that suggest that Ajith Kumar’s ‘Thunivu’ will also release on or around Pongal. Though it is not official as of now, it will be a big clash between Tamil and Telugu stars. Pongal will be celebrated from January 15 to January 18.

‘Varisu’ also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Prabhu, Jayasudha, Khushbu, Sangeetha Krish, Samyuktha Karthick, Prakash Raj and Yogi Babu. The film is directed by Vamshi Paidipally, and produced by Dil Raju under his Sri Venkateswara Creations. The film is set to be an entertaining action thriller.
