Pradip Mukherjee, a renowned Bengali actor, dies at the age of 76

Pradip was well-known for his parts in several films, including Jana Aranya by Satyajit Ray, Dooratwa by Buddhadeb Dasgupta, and Utsab by Rituparno Ghosh, among others. 

New Delhi: Veteran actor Pradip Mukherjee passes away on Monday. He is most known for his iconic and monumental role in Satyajit Ray’s “Jana Aranya.” In August 2022, when Pradeep was 76 years old, he was taken to the hospital due to a lung illness. Following that, Pradip Mukherjee’s condition deteriorated on Sunday, necessitating the use of a ventilator to keep him alive. In the previous two years, a COVID-19 positive test result was found for him. Pradip’s performance as Dr. Maiti in Kahaani 2: Durga Rani Singh also garnered praise from the critics. Arjun Rampal and Vidya Balan were also in the movie.

In addition to acting, Pradip worked as a tax consultant. His birthday is August 11, 1946. At City College in Kolkata, Pradip earned his diploma. He also holds a legal degree. Pradip Mukherjee has a passion for acting and wanted to make it his job from the time he was in college. In addition to taking theatrical classes, he was actively involved with several theatre academies. He began his acting career on stage, where Satyajit Ray saw him and cast him as Somnath in his classic film “Jana Aranya.”

Many of you recognise him from Buddhadeb Dasgupta’s Doorratwa and Jana Arnanya by Satyajit Ray. He was, nevertheless, a close friend of my mother’s to me. a kind and modest man.”
