Priyanka Chopra hosts special screening, reception for ‘Chhello Show’ in Los Angeles

New Delhi: Bollywood’s global star Priyanka Chopra hosted a special screening and reception of India’s official entry to the 95th Academy Awards, ‘Chhello Show’ (The Last Film Show). The Gujarati film has been shortlisted in the Best International Feature Film category while the final nominations will be announced soon. She talked about the film at the screening and Priyanka hosting the screening can be a major boost to the film’s campaign before the Oscars.

Producer David Dubinsky attended the event in Los Angeles and posed with Priyanka Chopra who wore a black dress paired with black boots. They were joined by the director of the ‘Chhello Show’, Pan Nalin and actor Bhavin Rabari.

At the screening, Priyanka touched on the themes of the ‘Chhello Show’ and talked about single-screen theatres in small towns of India and also narrated the story of her father bunking the school to watch films.

The film is produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur and Dheer Momaya and is a coming-of-age story of a young boy’s love for cinema in a village in Saurashtra, Gujarat. It follows Samay, played by Bhavin Rabari following his 35mm dreams.

The first official screening of the film in India was held in October 2022 before its release in theatres. The screening was attended by various Bollywood and Gujarati film celebs. The ‘Chhello Show’ earned a lot of praise at various film festivals including Tribeca, and Buenos Aires International Festival of Independent Cinema and went on to win the best picture award at the Asian World Film Festival in Los Angeles.

The film is currently streaming on Netflix.
