New Delhi: Tamil superstar Rajinikanth is once again the talk of the town ever since his latest blockbuster ‘Jailer’ hit the theatres.
The movie is an action-comedy thriller which is directed by filmmaker Nelson Dilipkumar and has amassed over Rs 600 crore at the box office, making the movie a mega-hit.
The movie also features several other prominent stars like Tamannaah Bhatia, Mirana Menon and Remya Pandian, along with some big-name cameos from the likes of Mohanlal, Jackie Shroff and Shivarajkumar.
Initially, it was reported that the online streaming rights for the movie might be given to Sun NXT and Netflix, but Amazon Prime Video turned up to be the eventual winner of the race, with the release scheduled to take place on September 7.

The movie will be released in 5 different languages, including Hindi and Tamil.
The Jawan effect?
The OTT release of Jailer taking place this soon despite still performing well on the big screen can be because Shahrukh Khan’s starrer ‘Jawan’ is also scheduled to release on September 7.
According to the reports, the distributors of Jawan are planning for a nationwide release and also with the biggest number of screens to date.
This can very well be the reason behind the makers of ‘Jailer’ pulling back their strings on the silver screen and moving towards OTT instead.

In the movie, Rajinikanth plays the role of a former cop, who is on a hunt to take revenge from the people who are behind the sudden disappearance of his son. Veteran Malayalam actor Vinayakan has played the role of the main antagonist in the movie.
