Rana Naidu: Netizens fume on ‘family-actors’ Venkatesh & Rana Daggubati for abuse & vulgarity in web series

The Indian adaption of the Hollywood series Ray Donovan; Rana Naidu has left the audiences in shock with its heavy-handed sex scenes, curse words, and innuendo. The concern escalates as the excessive nudity doesn’t serve any actual purpose in the plotline.

New Delhi: Venkatesh, also known as victory Venkatesh, and his nephew Rana Daggubati have both established a distinctive image in South Indian cinema.

Recently, the nephew-uncle duo made their big OTT debut with the web series ‘Rana Naidu’ on Netflix.

The Indian adaption of the Hollywood series Ray Donovan; Rana Naidu has left the audiences in shock with its heavy-handed sex scenes, curse words, and innuendo. The concern escalates as the excessive nudity doesn’t serve any actual purpose in the plotline.

The 10-episode series revolves around Rana, a handyman who fixes ‘problems’ of the super-rich and his unsavory Father Naga Naidu.

The story gains pace when Naga Naidu is released from prison after 15 years and his arrival may cause problems for the Bollywood star Prince Reddy. While Naga wishes to fix his estranged relationship with her family, Rana is adamant to keep his father in check and save Prince Reddy.

Although the series is garnering positive reviews because of its engaging storyline, it has also attracted tons of criticism for filthy scenes and language.

And all fingers are being pointed at the lead duo, Venkatesh and Rana Daggubati. The former who has been working for the South Indian Cinema over the last 3 decades has built an image of a family actor. Now that he is seen uttering foul language throughout the series, his fanbase has been left heartbroken.

Many have started to question whether putting aside ethics and years-old brand image for a Netflix series was worth it for him. The same heat can be felt for Rana Daggubati, who attracts younger audiences.

Many fans complained about how women are objectified throughout the series.
