New Delhi: The March premiere of Sand Land: The Series, the animated version of the short manga Sand Land by Akira Toriyama, is almost upon us. After the 18 August 2023 Japanese premiere of the film adaptation, the anime will pick up where it left off.
Set in a post-apocalyptic world where a cruel dictator controls the water, the series is directed by Toshihisa Yokoshima. Beelzebub, the demon king’s son, and his accomplice Thief are enlisted by Sheriff Rao to find a long-lost lake. Finding the water source requires them to work together as they traverse the treacherous terrain and overcome obstacles.
An open-world Sand Land video game will debut on April 25 with the series. The game lets players explore the desert as Beelzebub, the demonic hero.
Plot
On a planet where humans and demons both are severely short on water, a tag team consisting of the prince of demons, Beelzebub, and the sheriff of a tiny town, Rao, go on a perilous quest to find the legendary spring deep inside the desert.
Two main stories, “The Prince of Demons” and “The Angelic Heroes,” will comprise the anime. The first six episodes make up the arc and include elements from the anime film. With this arc, viewers can expect an engaging experience that goes beyond the original plot.
Chapters seven through thirteen make up the Angelic Heroes storyline. This story arc promises Beelzebub and his friends fascinating and fresh experiences as they encounter new difficulties in Forest Land, a location that Toriyama created himself.
When and Where to Watch?
Sand Land: The Series will premiere on March 20, 2024, according to the show’s developers. Streaming of the first 7 episodes will be made available on Disney Plus Hotstar worldwide. The remaining episodes will be broadcast on Wednesdays beginning with episode 8.

Cast
The voice actors who originally appeared in the Sand Land animated film will be returning for the series. Mutsumi Tamura will reprise his role as Beelzebub, Rao will be played by Kazuhiro Yamaji, and Thief will be played by Chō. Nobuo Tobita will voice General Zau and Satoshi Tsuruoka will play General Are.
Two new characters, Anne and Meunière, will make their debut in the Angelic Heroes arc of the series. Mikako Komatsu plays the role of Anne, while Ayumu Murase provides the voice for Meunière.
