‘Shabaash Mithu’ on OTT: Here’s where you can watch Mithali Raj’s biopic

The film follows the life and struggles of the cricket legend and former captain of the Indian National Cricket team.

New Delhi: Much awaited film ‘Shabaash Mithu’ will now release on an OTT platform. Cricketer Mithali Raj’s biopic is coming to OTT after a fine run in the cinemas. In the film, actor Taapsee Pannu played the role of India’s former cricket captain Mithali Raj.

The film follows the life and struggles of the cricket legend and former captain of the Indian National Cricket team. Directed by Srijit Mukherjee, the film is written by Priya Aven while the dialogues are penned by Vijay Maurya. Along with Taapsee, the film stars Vijay Raaz, Asad Ali Palijo, Tahir Anand, Brijendra Kala and Shilpi Marwaha.

Mithali Raj, who was called Mithu by her teammates holds the record for the highest number of runs in women’s ODIs. She has scored 7,805 runs in 232 games averaging 50.68. She has played 232 matches out of which 155 were as the captain of the Indian team. This makes her the cricketer with the highest number of ODI matches. Her  22 years and 274 days long career has been a source of inspiration for many players, especially women in India, to take up cricket as a profession.

When and where to watch?

The film will stream on Viacom 18’s OTT platform Voot. The company shared the news on their Voot Select Twitter handle. However, the date for the same has not been announced as the Tweet says that the film will be coming soon. The film will be streaming in four languages, namely, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada.

The music in the film is composed by Amit Trivedi, while the cinematography is done by Sirsha Ray, who is known for his work in ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’ and ‘A Death in a Gunj’.
