3. Haider

Another one from the duo of Vishal Bhardwaj and Shahid Kapoor, ‘Haider’ is an adaptation of Hamlet, set in Kashmir. The film is arguably Shahid’s best performance. Exploring the themes of betrayal and revenge, it is an interesting fictional take on Kashmir’s politics.

4. Udta Punjab

Based on Punjab drug menace, ‘Udta Punjab’ features Shahid Kapoor’s range as an actor, where he shows anger, empathy, love and frustration, in one of the purest character arcs in Hindi cinema. Playing a drug-addict pop singer, Shahid made a huge mark with his performance.
