His father Balkaur Singh and fans assembled in New Grain Market in Punjab’s Mansa to mark the occassion.

New Delhi: Sidhu Moose Wala was killed by gangsters last year and his friends and family are celebrating the one year death anniversary or the ‘barsi’ of the Punjabi singer. His father Balkaur Singh and fans assembled in New Grain Market in Punjab’s Mansa to mark the occassion. Balkaur Singh also unveiled his son’s statue on his death anniversary.

His father appealed to fans to peacefully assemble in Mansa and his close ones are carrying out a public meeting in the city. Apart from his statue, his favourite 5911 tractor and his last ride Thar are placed at the location.

The statue shows the late singer in his trademark appearance with black kurta-pajama, a kesari turban and his moustache and beard.

While the procession is said to be taken out peacefully, Punjab Police has laid elaborate security arrangements for the event. SSP said that there are police personnel from several districts at the venue to ensure security and peace. Deputy Commissioner Baldeep Kaur also announced a ban on flying drones near the New Grain Market.

The singer was shot dead on his way to Jawahar Ke village, in Mansa district on May 29 last year. His vehicle was stopped and shots were fired on him by assailants. The investigation in the case is still going on and the state police have made some arrests. Gangster Goldy Brar from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang is the prime accused in the case.

Two of the accused in the case were recently killed in an internal clash at Goindwal Sahib jail.
