New Delhi: South Korea-based series Squid Game won the heart of many people around the world. It went on to become the No. 1 Korean series on Netflix. It secured its place on the OTT platform’s Top 10 titles in the US. Ever since people have been waiting for the second season of Squid Game.
Recently, the creator of the series Hwang Dong-hyuk revealed a few details of season 2 of the series.
Squid Game Season 2 update
Hwang Dong-hyuk not only played a major role in the writing department for season 1 of Squid Game but also directed the series. It was released on September 17, 2021. The first season of the series is divided into nine episodes. It stars Lee Jung-jae, Park Hae-soo, Wi Ha-joon, HoYeon Jung, O Yeong-su, Heo Sung-tae in the lead role.
Talking to the media, Hwang Dong-hyuk said, ”The basic storyline for season two is all in my head. I am currently in the brainstorming stage. It will happen, someday, but as for when I cannot tell you details.”
According to media reports, the makers are planning to release season 2 by late 2023 or early 2024. In early 2022, Ted Sarandos, the head content officer of Netflix said the second season of Squid Game is just on the way.
Squid Game Season 3 Status and release date
It is reported that Hwang is in talks with Netflix for two upcoming seasons.
Talking to Korea Times, he said, ”I am in talks with Netflix over Season as well as season 3. We will come to a conclusion any time soon.”
