Suhana Khan, Khushi Kapoor, and Agastya Nanda make a spectacular debut in Zoya Akhtar’s “The Archies”

All three youngsters have subtle changes from their comic book counterparts.

New Delhi: Netflix’s love with Archie comics continues with Archie and his companions Betty, Veronica, and Jughead, but not with Riverdale or Sabrina this time. The Archies, directed by Zoya Akhtar, an Indian filmmaker known for her cerebral riffs on mainstream Hindi cinema, would give the Archie characters a desi twist. She will direct and produce this Netflix film, which will look back at how the young rock band got their start.

Archie Andrews and his pals are back, but this time with a twist, so prepare for a memorable ride. As a child, I remember being intrigued with comic books (and, to be honest, I still am), which I credit to my father. Every time we travelled the train, he would buy me comic comics. I was enamoured with English comic books like Archies, Sabrina The Teenage Witch, and Richie Richie, and I used to read Indian comic books like Chacha Chaudhary, Pinky, and Billu in a corner.

I’ve been always curious about life at Riverdale High School. They made time for sports practise and musical groups like The Archies and The Pussycats even after finishing their academics. Betty Cooper’s charm drew us in in a positive way. I’m sure we’ve all had our times of despising Veronica Lodge for her luxurious lifestyle.

Akhtar and Reema Kagti for Tiger Baby and Sharad Devarajan for Graphic India will produce the feature film adaptation of the iconic Archie comics in India. Kagti, Akhtar, and Ayesha DeVitre collaborated on it.

The film stars Mihir Ahuja, Dot, Khushi Kapoor, Suhana Khan, Yuvraj Menda, Agastya Nanda, and Vedang Raina. The seven young performers will play characters from Archie Comics. The trailer includes footage of the characters as well as a soulful music track by Ankur Tiwari and the Islanders, providing viewers a glimpse into the world of Archies, which Akhtar promises to bring to life.

The Archies is a musical drama set in the 1960s, directed by Zoya Akhtar. All three youngsters have subtle changes from their comic book counterparts. Suhana has Veronica-like long black hair, and Khushi has bangs. Despite not having Archie’s iconic red hair, Agastya’s hair was curled in the character’s way and had a slight red tint to it.
