Sunny Leone looks back at her audition, journey in Bollywood ahead of Kennedy’s premiere at Cannes

Talking about ‘Kennedy’, Sunny said that she has been crying since she received the call from Kashyap, thinking about where she has reached in her career.

New Delhi: Bollywood actor Sunny Leone, who is celebrating her 42nd birthday today, opened up about her journey in the film industry and tackling hate ahead of her film Kennedy’s premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. In an interview with Indian Express, the actor talked about receiving a call from Anurag Kashyap and auditioning for the film.

Talking about ‘Kennedy’, Sunny said that she has been crying since she received the call from Kashyap, thinking about where she has reached in her career. She added that she was shocked that Anurag wanted her to audition while there is a common misconception that she does not feel comfortable auditioning. About the audition, the actor said that she was nervous and Anurag had his entire crew at his office. She said that the auditions went well and she is proud to be a part of the film.

About her career, Sunny said that she believes in working and moving forward, and added that she is okay with not working with some of the big banners.

Sunny entered the Hindi film industry in 2012 and has faced a lot of backlash as she transitioned from the adult film industry to Bollywood. She said that she has read of lot of ‘bad articles’ about her but has not let them stop her. The actor also credited her husband Daniel Weber for the support and added that not responding to hate has been their ‘best response’.

Her upcoming film ‘Kennedy’ follows an insomniac ex-cop, played by Rahul Bhat, who is presumed to be dead. Written and directed by Anurag Kashyap, the film also stars Megha Burman, Jennifer Picconato, Benedict Garrett, and Prammod Sanghi.
