New Delhi: Tristan Ulloa and Candela Peña’s upcoming mini-series The Asunta Case, which circles one of the most heinous murder cases Spain has ever seen, is going to hit the digital screens next month.

The Asunta Case on OTT

On April 26, 2024, The Asunta Case will premiere on Netflix and the platform’s subscribers will be able to access it from their home’s comfort.

The digital portal has already made the official announcement about the Spanish web series’ arrival by sharing an intriguing date-reveal poster of the show from its official Instagram account on Monday.

In the post, Netflix teased the fans with  The Asunta Case’s poster & wrote,” We have a poster! THE ASUNTA CASE premieres on April 26 on Netflix.”

Plot 

Based on the infamous murder case of 12-year-old Asunta Basterra, who was killed mercilessly a decade back in 2013, The Asunta Case dwells deep into the young girl’s murder case investigation which uncovered some dark truth that put the entire state of Spain in shock and sorrow.

Asunta Basterra’s Murder Story

On the fateful night of September 21, 2013, A Spanish couple Rosario Porto and Alfonso Basterra lodged a complaint with the local police concerning the mysterious disappearance of their 12-year-old daughter Asunta.

This made the officials launch an official search operation to find the missing child but all they found was her dead body, lying lifeless with her hand and legs bound with a tight rope on one of the streets of the holy city Santiago de Compostela.

As if this was already not disturbing enough, things took an even worse turn when the police, during the investigation, found evidence that suggested that Asunta had been killed by none other than her own parents Alfonso and Rosario.

Later, it was revealed that the duo indeed was the ones who claimed the life of their innocent child by drugging her and choking her to death. The news of the terrifying incident also left the entire country of Spain shaken to the core for many days.

Directed by Jacobo Martínez, The Asunta Case sees Carlos Blanco, Javier Gutiérrez, Tristán Ulloa, Alicia Borrachero, María León, Francesc Orella, and Rosario Porto amongst others in key roles. It is bankrolled under the banner of Bambú Producciones and has Six episodes in Total.
