But the most shocking and unexpected thing ever happens to her on her birthday. Her family is planning to spend the whole summer in Mexico. She is pouting since no one asked her about this in advance and is distressed by the idea of abruptly abandoning her friends.
Contrasting with her desire to break free from her mother’s control and go on her own adventures, she secretly wishes she could return home, far from the mysterious and eerie mountain that is said to house the malevolent demigod Punguari. To prevent the demigod from becoming a wicked deity and destroying their peaceful Mexican valley, she must now reunite with her family and enlist the aid of everyone she can.
